SUMMARY:TWO-DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR FOR JUNIOR SCHOLARS OF MIGRATION AND ETHNIC RELATIONS 2021
DESCRIPTION:INVITATION TO A TWO-DAY NATIONAL SEMINAR FOR JUNIOR SCHOLARS OF MIGRATION AND ETHNIC RELATIONS 2021 \nAfter almost a two-year break\, we are happy to announce that a national seminar for junior scholars of migration and ethnic relations will take place on 2-3 December 2021 in Bergen. The seminar aims to become a platform for an annual meeting of junior scholars who are based in Norway and who are working in the field of migration and ethnic relations. Scholars from different disciplines and at any stage of their research are welcome to take part in the seminar! \nFollowing the positive feedback on the conference of 2019\, the programme of this national seminar includes two days. All participants will get the opportunity to meet and learn from each other\, as well as from senior scholars. The national seminar will include but is not limited to workshops and group discussions\, “practice your elevator talk” sessions and short and informal presentations of research projects in a creative unconventional way\, panel debates\, and a keynote speech given by top-notch researchers on relevant topics. By attending this seminar\, you will have the chance to develop your research and social networks\, as well as to enhance your academic knowledge and soft skills. Your participation in the national seminar is important for us and will be significant for promoting the IMER-jr. network at the national level. \nParticipation in the seminar is free of charge. \nTo sign up for the seminar\, please click here and register before 1 November 2021. SUMMARY:ONE-DAY CONFERENCE FOR JUNIOR SCHOLARS OF MIGRATION AND ETHNIC RELATIONS
DESCRIPTION:INVITATION TO ONE-DAY CONFERENCE FOR JUNIOR SCHOLARS OF MIGRATION AND ETHNIC RELATIONS UNIVERSITY OF BERGEN  \nDecember 6th\, 2019  \nAs a platform for networking\, the conference brings together junior scholars[1] from academic institutions in Norway who work with topics related to migration and ethnic relations. In a highly interdisciplinary research field\, it is of uttermost importance to create spaces for collaboration and interchange of experiences\, knowledge and ideas across disciplines and across institutions. Thus\, in Bergen we have founded a local junior scholar network with members from disciplines like medicine\, humanities\, social sciences\, law and education. We organize a range of activities from shut-up-and-write sessions to seminars and writing retreats. Since we find this network extremely valuable in our own work\, we would like to extend our network to a national level. Hence\, you are hereby invited to attend a one-day conference at the University of Bergen\, December 6th\, 2019. At the conference you will be able to discuss your project\, whatever stage you are at\, with other junior scholars who are based in Norway and who study migration and ethnic relations. You will also get the opportunity to discuss theoretical and methodological challenges and perspectives that are particular for and foundational in research on migration and ethnic relations. The conference will include workshops\, “practice your elevator talk”\, panel debates and a keynote speech given by a topnotch researcher (TBA) on a relevant topic. We organize this conference as an annual event\, which aims to promote networking among young scholars across disciplines and institutions\, to encourage cooperation\, joint publishing\, working together on research applications\, etc. \nThere is no conference fee\, but participants must pay their own travel expenses. We can try to arrange free accommodation in private homes if you wish. Lunch and light refreshments will be provided. There will be a conference dinner at a reasonable cost in the evening\, at the participants’ own expense. \nTo sign up for the conference\, please click here and register before October 15th\, 2019. You will be asked to upload a short description of your project/research interests (about half a page). \nThe conference is organized by IMER junior scholar network\, Bergen (which is part of IMER Bergen)\, with funding from Global Challenges\, UiB.
