After IMER’s 25th Anniversary, IMER Junior was very much looking forward to our writing retreat at Panorama Hotel. We had an amazing program planned by Joanna Spyra (thank you Joanna!) with a range of academic and social activities.
For our first session on day 1, we had the pleasure of having Laura Saetveit Miles from UiB who gave a two-hour workshop on writing. We had the chance to reflect on our writing habits, what works for us and what we would like to change. I think it is fair to say all of us present found her tips and insights very helpful and a great start to the writing retreat!
Inspired by Laura’s water metaphors, some of us jumped into the ocean by the hotel Panorama, and then we had the chance to enjoy the jacuzzi, sauna, and beautiful dark sky. We followed with a dinner and a fun social activity.
On day 2, feeling rested and refreshed, we had four writing sessions to work on our own projects. We also had a roundtable discussion about our progress in writing, and we discussed current updates from IMER Junior. After this meeting, we left inspired to continue reflecting on writing as a process and looking forward to IMER Junior activities in the future.

Important updates include that the Shut Up And Write sessions (SUAW) which have been led for the last two years by Rebecca Dyer Ånensen, now will be taken over by Gabriela Wale Soto and Amanda Tallis.
